Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a torrid season, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in particular - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-term mentor Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first trophy since the Rome competition and first on a hard court after March of 2023.

Success also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my children simultaneously, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six finals, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and regular reactions on court had prompted observers to wonder if his ability to perform at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform positively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the last five games to go ahead.

The competitors traded break points in the second set before the challenger, striving for his initial professional title, took control to force a final set.

The opponent defended 4 early-game break points in a close third set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner earned the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
